Southwest Zone Youth Basketball is pleased to offer a SW Mites Basketball Program for players 6-8 years old. The program is designed to help foster a love of the game, an appreciation for youth development in sport and an approach to coaching based on sportsmanship and respect.
The SW Mites program promotes the three S’s of Sweat, Smiles and Skills. We believe it is important for players, parents and coaches to have a consistent foundation on which to enter the EYBA programs for older players.
Mites basketball has been offered in the Southwest communities for close to 20 years. Our program has grown consistently and we now have close to 200 boys and girls playing at this level. We offer one hour sessions each week and participate in two tournaments throughout the year.
Modified rules to promote a fun and positive experience for the kids include the use of a smaller ball and hoops lowered to 8 feet.
2024-25 Season - $285.00 fee
7U & 9U JR NBA Program (born in 2016-2019)
Sessions are held at the Saville Community Sports Center beginning October through to mid March. Registration is for the night and time of your choosing. This means there will be one practice per week on the day and time you chose.
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (Co-ed) 5-6pm
Monday, Wednesday, Friday (Co-ed) 6-7pm
Tuesday (Girls Night) 5-6pm & 6-7pm
**Parents are to select ONLY one (1) session time to register their son/daughter in.
Session time is selected upon registration on a first come first serve basis. Sessions are co-ed except for Tuesdays (Girls Night). Players receive JR NBA jersey and basketball upon registration. The sessions are run by a SW Head Coach Coordinator who will also have Program Assistants available at each session. We are also in in need of parent volunteers. The program follows the JR NBA developmental curriculum with age appropriate drills and skills.
