Welcome to the SW Basketball fall season. We have been busy organizing teams and getting things set to start play. We will be contacting all coaches soon with team lists to communicate with players and arrange for equipment pick up. Before we do this, there are some items that must be put in place.
SW Basketball uses a variety of facilities throughout the basketball season for games and practices. Edmonton Public schools and Edmonton Catholic schools have closed gymnasium access until November 1 at the earliest. Our hope is to provide practice times at the Saville Sports Center, but these will be limited in quantity. We are also awaiting a guidance from the Edmonton Youth Basketball Association (EYBA) on the scheduling of games.
On September 17, the Saville Sports Center issued new protocols in response to the recent temporary measures issued by the provincial government. All SW Basketball participants, players and coaches, wishing to enter the Saville Sports Center must comply with this guidance. Spectators will not be allowed to enter the facility at this time.
As a rental group, SW Basketball will be responsible to compile Proof of Vaccination records for participants 12+ in age. We are currently designing a procedure to gather this information to proceed with basketball.
We are asking that parents/guardians read the guidelines from Saville Sports Center (Link) and gather the necessary documentation. Please DO NOT send us your proof of vaccination until it is asked for.
– Proof of Vaccination
– Approved identification (Government issued or school identification card for ages 12+)
If you have signed up as a coach, more communication will be issued in the coming days regarding SW Basketball procedures for this process. We will be receiving more detailed information following an upcoming meeting with the EYBA.
Thank you for your patience and understanding,
