Coaches Meeting 2021 – TBA
Police Checks are still required. You must complete an online application before beginning to coach.

Volunteer Coaching is key to the success of our program.  Southwest Basketball typically fields 75+ teams in the city community league which requires approximately 150 coaches (based on 2 per team).  In addition our Mighty Mites program requires between 10 and 20 helpers. We are always looking for volunteers to help out with coaching duties. PREVIOUS COACHING EXPERIENCE IS NOT A REQUIREMENT!

Southwest Basketball remains committed to helping train new and returning coaches at no cost to the volunteer. We also make sure to place less experienced coaches with the more experienced coaches to provide the opportunity to transfer skills and foster ongoing skills development.

PLEASE NOTE THAT EDMONTON YOUTH BASKETBALL IS NOW REQUIRING ALL COACHES TO HAVE A POLICE CHECK. SOUTHWEST BASKETBALL WILL ORGANIZE THIS AND COVER THE COSTS.

If you are interested in coaching, please send an email to gyms@southwestbasketball.com and be sure to identify your interest on the registration form.

We are also looking for volunteers for the Mites program.  If you are interested please email our mites coordinator at mites@southwestbasketball.com and make a note on your registration form. We will have a Head Coach, however, we need parent volunteers to assistant coach and help monitor which is absolutely necessary for kids at this age. It is also an excellent opportunity for parents or older youth to get involved in coaching kids at such a fun age.
