Volunteer Coaching is key to the success of our program.  Southwest Basketball typically fields 50+ teams in the city community league which requires approximately 100 coaches (based on 2 per team).  In addition our Mighty Mites program requires between 10 and 20 coaches. We are always looking for volunteers to help out with coaching duties. PREVIOUS COACHING EXPERIENCE IS NOT A REQUIREMENT!

Southwest Basketball will provide training to new and returning coaches at no cost to the volunteer. We also make sure to place less experienced coaches with the more experienced coaches to provide the opportunity to transfer skills and foster ongoing skills development.

PLEASE NOTE THAT EDMONTON YOUTH BASKETBALL IS NOW REQUIRING ALL COACHES TO HAVE A POLICE CHECK. SOUTHWEST BASKETBALL WILL ORGANIZE THIS AND COVER THE COSTS.

If you are interested in coaching, please send an email to info@southwestbasketball.com or advise us at the registration desk and be sure to identify your interest on the registration form at that time.

We are also looking for volunteers for the Mighty Mites program. We will have trained head coaches to lead these programs, however coaching and monitor help is absolutely necessary for kids at this age. It is also an excellent opportunity for parents or older youth to get involved in coaching kids at such a fun age.
